As the autumn air descends across Spartanburg County, now is the perfect time to explore the outdoor amenities. The Mary Black Foundation Rail Trail is a popular outdoor recreation offering just south of Downtown Spartanburg, providing close looks at the foliage for runners, walkers, cyclists, and pet owners. Other outdoor options include the Cottonwood Trail, Glendale Shoals, Cleveland Park, Milliken Arboretum, Landrum, and Hatcher Garden & Preserve. All of these spots offer off-the-beaten-path views of the changing seasons. |

The South Carolina Department of Public Health (DPH) has confirmed two additional cases of measles related to an ongoing outbreak in Spartanburg County, bringing the total number of confirmed cases in the state to 10 since July 9, 2025. The outbreak has seen cases with unknown sources, indicating possible community spread. Measles is highly contagious and can spread quickly in unvaccinated households and communities. The initial symptoms include fever, cough, and runny nose followed by a rash. Complications such as pneumonia and encephalitis can occur, especially in young children, older adults, pregnant women, and those with weakened immune systems. Vaccination with the MMR vaccine is the best way to protect against measles, with up to 97% protection after two doses. |

Downtown Spartanburg will unite for the Annual Mayor's Walk & Roll on Thursday, October 16, a powerful event championing community and inclusion.
Organized by the Mayors of Spartanburg County Committee for People with Disabilities, the day highlights the importance of accessibility for all residents.
This year’s theme is "Access to Good Jobs for Everyone," a direct call to local businesses to support the economic empowerment of individuals with disabilities.
Participants will gather at the Morgan Square Clock Tower at 8:30 a.m.
The route proceeds through the heart of the city and concludes at the historic Spartanburg Memorial Auditorium.
Following the walk, students will be transported to Spartanburg High School for a special educational program.
