Piedmont Interstate Fair Rolls Out Strict New Safety Rules for All Attendees |
Major changes include a clear bag policy, metal detectors, and a new youth attendance requirement for the beloved Spartanburg event. |
The Piedmont Interstate Fair is gearing up for another year of fun, but with a serious new focus on safety that will change the experience for many.
Organizers have announced a sweeping set of new rules for the Spartanburg event, designed to create a more secure environment for every family.
The most significant change is a new Clear Bag Policy.
Guests must now carry belongings in clear plastic, vinyl, or PVC bags no larger than 12" x 6" x 12".
This move is intended to dramatically speed up entry and enhance security screenings at the gates.
Small clutch bags are still permitted, but backpacks, large purses, and other non-clear bags are now strictly prohibited.
In addition to the bag limits, everyone will pass through metal detectors before entering the fairgrounds.
The Piedmont Interstate Fair Association also reinforced its zero-tolerance policy on weapons.
This ban applies to all firearms and knives, with no exceptions whatsoever for concealed weapon permit holders.
A crucial new youth attendance policy is also in effect for this year's annual fair.
All fairgoers under the age of 18 must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian to enter.
Fair management noted that guardians may be held responsible for the actions of the youth they escort.
Officials from the Spartanburg Police Department and Spartanburg County Sheriff’s Office will be on-site to enforce all community guidelines.
Other rules, such as no gang-related clothing and no outside food or beverages, remain in effect.
These stringent safety measures reflect a commitment to maintaining a family-friendly atmosphere.
